Gemma is an adult psychotherapist, having completed her training at the Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy in July 2018. She has been seeing clients since 2016. Gemma is also a trainee member of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) working towards UKCP accreditation.

Gemma works with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including: anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, relationship difficulties, obsessive compulsive behaviours/ thoughts, panic attacks, eating difficulties or disorders, identity issues.

Gemma works from a Transactional Analysis perspective, focusing on an integrative and relational approach. She also builds on other models and resources when relevant, to help in working with her clients. She works from a non judgemental ethos within the therapeutic relationship, holding the value that every thought and behaviour has a logical reason and route cause and everyone is inherently ‘ok’. She also believes that everyone holds many strengths that will help them to address the difficulties in their lives. Gemma works with her clients to establish a therapeutic relationship and a joint way forwards.

Gemma has also worked for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Leeds since June 2016. Whilst working in a different professional capacity, as part of her role she also offers individual and group therapeutic support, drawing upon and using her psychotherapy skills. This experience has also enhanced her knowledge and experience of working with individuals with emotional and psychological difficulties.
